Powhiri

The students of Year 4 participated in a powhiri with Matua Edwards. A powhiri is a traditional Maori welcome. Sativa and Kalani did a great karanga followed by Eli and Michael speaking on behalf of their groups. After the waiata the two groups greeted each other with a hongi.

  1. Looks like you had a lot of fun at the Powhiri, although I think that if you could show a little video of what happened there it would tell us more about the Powhiri. Hope you had a fun time!!!.

  2. That looks like a fabulous learning experience - I hoped you enjoyed the day. It has been wonderful to have Matua Edwards here at the school helping us learn more about Maori customs and traditions.
